Kevin Brinkman has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Rodrigo Reis's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rodrigo Reis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kevin Brinkman!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Alexandre Firmino and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brinkman throws a right hand that Reis ducks under and follows up with a left that Reis also avoids with ease.
Reis throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Brinkman moves in looking to clinch but Reis pushes him off.
Kevin Brinkman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Brinkman throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Reis lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Reis clinches up against the cage.

Brinkman breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Brinkman misses with a jab, cross combination.

Reis closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Reis prevents Brinkman from improving his position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Brinkman can do anything to dispel that myth.
Reis seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Brinkman does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Brinkman looks like he's trying to stand up.
Reis lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Reis is tying to control. Brinkman wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Reis decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Reis fails in his attempt to clinch.
Reis looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Reis throws a wild body kick that Brinkman sees coming a mile off.
Reis shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Brinkman as he jumps to the side.
Brinkman misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
A low kick from Brinkman is predictable there
and Reis makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Brinkman looks to land a combination but Reis avoids it well.

Reis shoots in and bounces Brinkman off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Reis controlling from the top position.
Reis wants to control from the top but Brinkman keeps moving.
Reis content to stall in guard here.

Reis drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Reis jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Reis scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Reis is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Reis passes Brinkman's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Brinkman looks gassed!
Brinkman wants to get back to his feet.
Brinkman is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Reis seems to be looking for submissions.
Reis not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Reis is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Reis is trying for a kimura here. Brinkman looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Reis wins by kimura!
