Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Emil Hooper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vhin Yama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vhin Yama has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Emil Hooper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Vhin Yama!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Eddie Farnsworth and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Yama drives through with a takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Yama trying to control but Hooper is working from the bottom.
Yama's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Hooper wants to stand and escape but Yama is having none of it.
Yama trying to control but Hooper is working from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Yama controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Yama stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hooper swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Yama throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Hooper tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Yama is in Hooper's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Yama stopping the sweep attempt from Hooper.
Hooper could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Yama trying to control but Hooper is working from the bottom.
Yama engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Hooper throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Hooper trying to control the position.
Yama throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hooper works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Hooper tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Yama shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Yama thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Yama is trying to control the action in half guard but Hooper is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Yama stops Hooper from getting back to his feet.
Yama stalling.
Yama seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hooper does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Yama passes to side control.
Yama is looking to take a break and control but Hooper is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Yama is trying to get an arm triangle but Hooper is defending well.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Yama laying and praying for a moment but Hooper takes advantage and regains half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vhin Yama dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Yama drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Hooper tries to buck Yama off but Yama is having none of it.

Yama stands up.
Hooper misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Yama drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Yama controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Hooper looking to hit a scissor sweep but Yama is one step ahead there.

Yama passes Hooper's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Hooper trying to hold on to Yama's head to control him but Yama postures up.
Hooper is refusing to be controlled, as Yama sits in half guard.

Yama seems to be looking for submissions.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Yama connects with a nice short shot to Hooper's temple.

Yama is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Hooper has managed to free his arm - good work.
Yama seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hooper does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Yama seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Hooper tries to get to full guard but Yama has control of the leg.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Yama winds up and cracks Hooper with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Yama is trying to control. Hooper wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Yama shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Hooper is trying to defend but Yama finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Hooper manages to get to full guard.

Yama advances to half guard.
Yama controlling the pace.
Yama wants to control but Hooper is keeping him busy.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vhin Yama showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Hooper lands a nice looking body kick.
Yama doesn't manage to clinch there - Hooper circles away.

Hooper gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Yama trying to control the position from guard on top but Hooper is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hooper wants to get back to his feet but Yama is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Yama wants to pass the guard but Hooper is keeping the position.

Hooper keeping moving, preventing Yama from controlling successfully.
Hooper is trying to control the position but Yama postures up.

Yama stands and steps away. Hooper gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Yama drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Yama wants to control from the top but Hooper keeps moving.
Yama stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hooper swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Hooper wriggles free and stands up.

Yama drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Yama wants to take a breather but Hooper manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Yama.
Yama would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Yama looking to sit in guard and control but Hooper gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Hooper won't allow Yama to sweep him here.
Yama has momentary wrist control but Hooper slips an elbow through the middle.
Hooper missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Yama looking for a sweep. Not yet Yama, not yet.
Yama is pulling down on Hooper's head to control his posture.

Yama trying to keep a closed guard but Hooper is proving a slippery customer.
Yama tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Yama trying to control the position.
Hooper is looking to work some ground and pound but Yama has wrist control.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Yama shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Yama was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Vhin Yama comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Yama winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
