Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Garland Nixon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hugh MacKay!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Anthony Taglia and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
MacKay decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Nixon wants to improve his position but MacKay is controlling well.
Nixon is looking to escape.
MacKay is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Nixon defends it well.
MacKay looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
MacKay is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Nixon is trying to get back to full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
MacKay is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
MacKay wants to pass to mount but Nixon is defending the position.
Nixon wants to improve his position but MacKay is controlling well.
That's one minute gone in the round.
MacKay misses with a head shot. Nixon uses the momentum to regain guard.
MacKay working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Nixon's head.
MacKay drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Nixon manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now MacKay has Nixon in his guard.
MacKay has his foot on Nixon's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Nixon works his way back into a safe position though.
Nixon gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Nixon gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows MacKay to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Nixon knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for MacKay on the ground.
Nixon utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
MacKay with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nixon looking to control.
MacKay forces his way into half guard.
Nixon looks like he's trying to stand up.
Nixon has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. MacKay is working away from the top position though.
Nice strikes from MacKay there.
MacKay lands with a punch from half guard.
MacKay is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Nixon is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
