Jones has chosen Fort Minor - Remember The Name as his entrance music. John Jones will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Aafke Stam and Paulsen Ambrosius.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones throws a leg kick that is checked

and Varce counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Jones moves into full guard.
Varce wants to pass the guard but Jones is keeping the position.
Varce is in close to Jones's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Jones avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Varce distracts Jones with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Varce is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Varce trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Varce throws a big right hand that misses.
Varce might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Jones looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Varce loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Jones looking for a guillotine here but Varce defends easily.
Varce has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Varce trying to control the position from guard on top but Jones is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Jones is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Varce defends well.
Varce content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Varce postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Jones looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Varce working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Jones's head.
Varce lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Jones wants to stand and escape but Varce is having none of it.

Varce makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Jones is still in real trouble! Can Varce finish him?
Varce gets to his feet and stands over Jones, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Jones felt that one! Varce unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Jones from any more punishment!
