PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Joe Strummer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tiny Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Tiny Johnson was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Johnson gets caught flat footed, as Strummer shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Strummer stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Johnson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Strummer drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Johnson manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Strummer has Johnson in his guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Strummer had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Johnson is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Strummer Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Johnson's back instead.

Strummer is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Johnson is defending well though. Strummer let's go of the attempt for now.
Strummer is breathing heavily.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Strummer's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Strummer will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Strummer controlling well, preventing Johnson from escaping the position.

Strummer throwing lazy shots from the back mount that aren't doing any damage.
Johnson turns into Strummer and is now in his guard.
Strummer really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Strummer sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Strummer is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Johnson pulls his head out easily.
Johnson wants to take a breather but Strummer is having none of it.
Johnson prevents Strummer from improving his position.
Strummer is not content to let Johnson control the position.
Johnson tries to pass to full mount but Strummer defends it.
Strummer is refusing to be controlled, as Johnson sits in half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Johnson lands a nice short elbow.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Strummer is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Johnson clinches up against the cage.
Strummer changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Johnson fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Johnson lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Strummer fails to pull the fight into his guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joe Strummer. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Johnson has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Strummer clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Johnson is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Strummer has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Johnson has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Strummer taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Johnson doesn't care though - he's delighted!
