Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Lazerus Wheelright!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jason Shields!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Micheangelo Fripello and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shields avoids the head kick by Wheelright.
Wheelright uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Shields.
Wheelright pushes Shields away with a front kick.
Shields avoids the body shot from Wheelright.
Shields unleashes a big counter combination but Wheelright bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Some wild striking there from Shields.
Shields throws a head kick that misses.
Wheelright connects with the punch.
Shields throws a sloppy head kick and Wheelright moves out of range easily.
Jab by Wheelright.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wheelright dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
A punch combination from Shields misses.
Shields moves out of range of the body kick.
Wheelright explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Shields looks winded!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Wheelright buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Shields takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Wheelright scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Wheelright looks to score with a jab to the body but Shields is just out of range.
A big left from Shields misses.
Shields throws an overhand right that lands on Wheelright's shoulder, as Wheelright tries to avoid the shot.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Shields has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Wheelright fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
The fighters circle, before Wheelright throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Shields's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Wheelright lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Kick & Punches). Lazerus Wheelright!
Our winner, Lazerus Wheelright, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
Jason Shields was interviewed post fight and said 'I gotta go back and train hard and wait for my next fight offer'.
