Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Werner Meier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Curt Champion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Werner Meier has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Werner Meier!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Curt Champion!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Fedor Mirinova and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Meier looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Meier keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Meier is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Champion.

Champion gets a takedown into half guard.
Champion is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Champion is trying to work for a kimura but Meier is defending well.
Champion perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Meier is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Meier actively working from the bottom here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Meier is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Champion pulls his head out easily.
Champion thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Meier's head.

It looks like Champion might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Champion stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Meier swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Champion is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Meier working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Champion doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Champion manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Meier has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Champion can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Meier throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Champion throws a leg kick but Meier sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Meier swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Champion throws a hook but Meier avoids it easily.

Champion shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Meier manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Champion thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Meier is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Meier is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Champion knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Champion for a finish.

Werner Meier decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
