Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Seth Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Darnell Williams!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Cecil Peabody and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williams shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Johnson as he avoids it easily.
Williams tries to clinch but Johnson is having none of it.
Johnson jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.


It looks like Darnell Williams has been cut.
Johnson keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Williams tries to land a front kick but Johnson steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Williams walks into a stiff left hand from Johnson.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Johnson throws a nice looking combination but Williams bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Johnson tries to bum rush Williams with a series of wild strikes but Williams uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Seth Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Johnson counters with a combination of strikes to the head and body that crumple Williams!
Johnson is thwarting Williams's attempts to control the position.
Well, if Johnson is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Johnson stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Williams to get to his feet.
Williams shoots in and drives through. Johnson sprawls well.

Johnson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Johnson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

A punch lands to the side of Williams 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Johnson scores with a crisp jab that stopped Williams in his tracks.


That has opened up Darnell Williams's cut even more.
Williams has his takedown stuffed
and Johnson counters with a left and a right that stings Williams.
Williams is trying desperately to land a takedown but Johnson is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Williams.

Johnson pushes Williams up against the cage in a clinch.

Johnson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Johnson buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Johnson lands a two punch combo.
Johnson misses with a double jab

and Williams counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Williams trying to control the action but Johnson is working from the bottom.
Johnson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Williams might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Johnson kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Johnson tries to kick Williams off but Williams keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Johnson is trying to maintain the position but Williams is very close to passing his half guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Williams wants to free his trapped foot but Johnson is holding on for dear life with his legs.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Williams avoids a punch combination nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Johnson feints and as Williams raises his hands in defense, Johnson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Johnson wants to stand but Williams has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Williams is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Johnson gets to his feet - Williams follows without any prompting.
Williams tries for a takedown but Johnson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Johnson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Williams sprawls well initially but Johnson persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

and Johnson counters with a nice body kick.
Williams stuns Johnson with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Williams throws a head kick that misses.
Johnson could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Johnson keeps the fight on the outside.

and Williams counters with a single leg into guard. Johnson didn't expect that.
Johnson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Williams wants to control from the top but Johnson keeps moving.
Williams wants to stand but Johnson has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Williams must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Johnson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Johnson scrambles and gets back to his feet.
The fighters circling - Johnson throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Williams moves into range and clinches up with Johnson.

Williams jumps guard but Johnson stands there with Williams around his waist. Williams gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Williams drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Johnson gets the underhooks and prevents it.

and Johnson counters with a low kick, right behind Williams 's knee.
Johnson stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Johnson drives through and clinches with Williams against the cage.
Williams is trying to break free.

Johnson lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

and Johnson connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Williams moves away from the strike by Johnson.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Williams.
Williams takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Johnson moves into range and clinches up with Williams.

Williams breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Williams fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Johnson throws a nice looking combination but Williams bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Williams shoots in for a takedown but Johnson shows good takedown defense.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Williams moves out of range of the body kick from Johnson.

That was a close second round but I would say that Seth Johnson will probably get the nod.

Johnson misses with a straight left.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Johnson darts in and clinches Williams up against the cage.
Johnson is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Williams fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Johnson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Williams shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Williams was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Williams jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Johnson is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Johnson and Williams has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Johnson wants to control but Williams postures up.
Johnson is trying to get back to half guard.
Darnell Williams has got the better of the ground game so far.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Williams tries to roll but Johnson sticks to his back.

You can see the frustration on Williams's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Williams is trying to stand back up.
Williams wants to control his opponent's hands but Johnson gets his hands free.
Johnson has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Williams's body.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Johnson's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Johnson is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Williams is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Seth Johnson showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Johnson has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
