PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Rickey Schwartz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gerald Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smith comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Territorial Pissings kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rickey Schwartz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gerald Smith!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Skip Squint and Darius Henderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smith drives through with a takedown into Schwartz's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Smith trying to control the position from guard on top but Schwartz is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Schwartz had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Smith defends it easily.
Schwartz is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Schwartz really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Schwartz's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Smith blocks Schwartz's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
Schwartz is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

Smith has control of Schwartz's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Schwartz regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Smith lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smith wants to control the pace but Schwartz is squirming around nicely.

Smith might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Schwartz haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Schwartz has his foot on Smith's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Smith works his way back into a safe position though.

Smith throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Schwartz was covering up waiting for the punch and Smith finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Gerald Smith comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Smith has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
