Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ricardo Santana (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Slayer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Slayer is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by MESHUGGAH - Bleed . This should be fireworks!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Frank Slayer!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Albert Achterberg and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santana looks to land a right hand but Slayer moved out of range.
Slayer is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.

Slayer displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Santana throws out the jab.

Slayer takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Santana digs a good body shot into Slayer's ribs.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Slayer connects with a good right hand that stumbles Santana. Santana circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

A nice side step and Slayer releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.

I was talking to Santana's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Slayer lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Santana's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Slayer has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Santana lands with a hook. Slayer tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Slayer creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Santana sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Slayer tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Slayer has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Slayer swings around for an armbar but Santana sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Slayer's guard.

Santana wants to stand but Slayer has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Slayer tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Slayer is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Santana might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Slayer lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
