PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Fritz Haarmann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimmy Hyatt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Haarmann comes to the cage accompanied by Macabre - Fritz Haarmann The Butcher . Hyatt has chosen Street fighter as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. On his way into the cage it seems that Fritz Haarmann has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Fritz Haarmann seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Fritz Haarmann!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 9 - 1, fighting out of New York, Jimmy Hyatt!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Saam Ante and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hyatt lands with an uppercut that bounces Haarmann off the cage and back into range.
A clash of legs there as Haarmann blocks the low kick.
Hyatt lands a jab.
Hyatt changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Haarmann takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Donk. Hyatt catches Haarmann right on the button with a cross.
Hyatt fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Haarmann manages to avoid it.

Haarmann decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Haarmann seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hyatt does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Haarmann is working for a kimura but Hyatt is defending it quite comfortably.
Haarmann is trying to control. Hyatt wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Hyatt is trying to stand.
Hyatt is trying to get back to full guard.

Haarmann is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Hyatt doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Haarmann.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Haarmann is looking to advance position but Hyatt has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Haarmann is wriggling around trying to escape.
Haarmann regains half guard.
Hyatt trying to control the action but Haarmann is working from the bottom.

Hyatt wants to free his trapped foot but Haarmann is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Hyatt seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Hyatt moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Haarmann.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hyatt decides to stand up, so the ref orders Haarmann to his feet.
Hyatt looks to land a body kick but Haarmann moved away.
Haarmann appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Hyatt works Haarmann's body with a nice hook.
Haarmann connects with a right hand. Hyatt shakes it off.
Haarmann gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Haarmann avoids the head kick by Hyatt.
Haarmann slips under a jab from Hyatt.
Hyatt fails with an attempt to clinch.

Hyatt lands a head kick. Haarmann smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

That's time! Haarmann's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Both fighters circling a little - Hyatt finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Haarmann takes a jab right on the kisser.
Hyatt throws a solid leg kick but Haarmann takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Hyatt.

Haarmann has gone for a leg lock! Hyatt slips out almost immediately though and dives into Haarmann's guard.


Haarmann has an active guard here but Hyatt has managed to pass into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hyatt has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Haarmann is looking for a sweep. Hyatt is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Fritz Haarmann overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Haarmann tries to lock up and control but Hyatt gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Haarmann is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Hyatt is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Haarmann is looking to wear down Hyatt with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Haarmann moves forwards but Hyatt connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Hyatt throws a body shot but no joy.
Haarmann shoots in and drives through. Hyatt sprawls well.
Haarmann misses with a takedown attempt - Hyatt sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Hyatt throws out a counter right but Haarmann avoids it with no problem.
Jimmy Hyatt is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Haarmann changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hyatt tries to avoid it but Haarmann manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hyatt to the ground. Hyatt escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fritz Haarmann. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Hyatt lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Jimmy Hyatt showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! And we move into the final round!

A decent looking cross lands there for Hyatt.
Hyatt throws a leg kick which misses Haarmann's front leg but catches the back leg as Haarmann tries to avoid it.
Hyatt fakes the leg kick and cracks Haarmann in the body.

Haarmann uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Hyatt.
Hyatt throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Hyatt swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Hyatt keeps Haarmann at a distance using the push kick.
Hyatt lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Hyatt scores with a jab to the body.
Hyatt tries a head kick but it misses.
Haarmann takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Haarmann throws a body punch but Hyatt moves out of range.
Hyatt lands a jab to the nose.
Hyatt connects with a good right hand that stumbles Haarmann. Haarmann circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
A nice inside leg kick there by Hyatt. That's going to slow Haarmann down.

Haarmann throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Hyatt was covering up waiting for the punch and Haarmann finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Haarmann postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Hyatt is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Haarmann, into his guard.

Hyatt slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Let's hope that Hyatt has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Haarmann is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Jimmy Hyatt is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Hyatt's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Hyatt wants to control from the top but Haarmann keeps moving.

Haarmann has his foot on Hyatt's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hyatt works his way back into a safe position though.

Haarmann is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Fritz Haarmann has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well Hyatt has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In defeat, Fritz Haarmann stepped up to the mic, saying 'Zum Teufel!'.
