Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chuck Liddell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, BIZZ NESS!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Robert Twigg and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
NESS wants to clinch up but Liddell keeps it at a distance.
NESS shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Liddell pinned against the cage. Liddell gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Liddell keeps the fight on the outside.
NESS shoots for a takedown but Liddell saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
NESS shoots for a double leg takedown but Liddell sprawls well. He's pushed NESS's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Chuck Liddell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of BIZZ NESS.
NESS shoots for a takedown but Liddell saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
NESS closes this distance looking for a takedown but Liddell circles away.

Liddell feints and as NESS raises his hands in defense, Liddell changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Liddell is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Liddell passes NESS's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Liddell decides to return to a standing position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
NESS has his takedown stuffed
and Liddell counters with a left and a right that stings NESS.

Liddell gets in close and instigates a clinch.
NESS stops a takedown attempt from Liddell.
Liddell prevents the takedown attempt.
NESS looks gassed!
Liddell wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
NESS can't get the takedown.
Liddell is trying to break the clinch but NESS has him pressed against the cage.

Liddell breaks the clinch.
NESS takes one on the chin but seems OK.


It looks like BIZZ NESS has been cut.
NESS slips a jab and a cross from Liddell.

Liddell drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Liddell stands and steps away. NESS gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Liddell tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but NESS paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Liddell drives through and clinches with NESS against the cage.
NESS fails to pull the fight into his guard.
NESS takes a shot to the head.

Liddell escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
NESS takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Liddell gets a takedown into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Liddell in particular looking to stall.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Liddell wants to stand up but NESS is controlling the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Liddell decides to return to a standing position.
Liddell fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
NESS fails with the takedown

and Liddell moves into the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
NESS prevents Liddell from breaking the clinch.

Liddell pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Liddell stalks NESS and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into NESS's face. NESS staggers backwards, shaken.
NESS tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Liddell counters with a two punch combo.
Liddell lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Liddell throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

NESS changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Liddell looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Liddell is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Liddell throws a shot to the body.
Liddell lands a head shot.
NESS fails with the takedown
and Liddell counters with a series of strikes. NESS will be more careful next time no doubt.

and Liddell holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

NESS jumps into guard, dragging Liddell to the mat.
Liddell is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Liddell pushes down on NESS's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Liddell prevents NESS from improving his position.

Liddell decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
NESS misses with a takedown
and Liddell counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Chuck Liddell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of BIZZ NESS.

Liddell connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed NESS momentarily.
Liddell looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Liddell throws a combination but it was largely blocked by NESS.
A cross from Liddell lands.
NESS shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Liddell counters by clinching up.
Liddell is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Liddell tries for a takedown but NESS manages to get underhooks.
NESS takes a shot to the head.
Liddell is trying to break free.
Liddell is looking to break free of the clinch but NESS has double underhooks.

NESS tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Liddell smiles and moves away.
Liddell lands with a kick to the temple. NESS shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
NESS avoids the head kick by Liddell.
NESS has his takedown stuffed
and Liddell counters with a three punch combo that has NESS backing up. NESS nods at Liddell to acknowledge the strikes.

and Liddell counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Liddell.
NESS keeping moving, preventing Liddell from controlling successfully.

Liddell with a flurry of punches that miss.
Liddell trying to control but NESS is working from the bottom.
NESS is pulling down on Liddell's head to control his posture.
Liddell is looking to stand up but NESS won't let him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chuck Liddell dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on BIZZ NESS's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



The fight moves into the clinch position.
NESS prevents Liddell from breaking the clinch.
Liddell tries to break the clinch but NESS is controlling the position.

NESS tightens his grip and picks Liddell up, before dumping him to the ground. Liddell manages to land in guard.
Liddell is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst NESS is controlling him.
Liddell looking to hit a scissor sweep but NESS is one step ahead there.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Liddell is working hard here to advance position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
NESS wants to control from the top but Liddell keeps moving.
Liddell wants to get back to his feet but NESS is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
NESS passes Liddell's left leg - he's now in half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Liddell keeping hold of NESS's head, controlling as best he can.
NESS stops Liddell from getting back to his feet.
Liddell wants to get back to full guard.

NESS wants to work for an arm triangle but Liddell is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Liddell here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

NESS is trying to work for a kimura but Liddell is defending well.
NESS wants to lay and pray for a moment but Liddell keeps working.
Liddell moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Liddell controls NESS momentarily but NESS frees himself.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Liddell has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Chuck Liddell is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
NESS trying to control the position from guard on top but Liddell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

And that's the end of the fight!
BIZZ NESS comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Liddell has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
