Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alva Perkins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Johnny Castle!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Gregory Folan and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Perkins is trying hard to land a takedown here. Castle sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
No luck for Castle with that takedown attempt.

Castle closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Castle lands in his opponent's guard.
Castle wants to control from the top but Perkins keeps moving.
Perkins looking to hit a scissor sweep but Castle is one step ahead there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Castle is looking to pass into half guard but Perkins pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Perkins is in guard.

Castle really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Perkins. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Perkins has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Perkins's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Castle has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Perkins is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Castle fails to pull guard.

Perkins drops down looking for an ankle pick but Castle pulls his leg out and moves away.

Castle manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Perkins on his heels. He'll look to pass Perkins's guard now, I'm sure.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Perkins looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Perkins is working hard here to advance position.

Perkins could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Castle must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Castle wants to control from the top but Perkins keeps moving.

Castle stands up and waves to Perkins to follow him.
Castle fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Perkins avoids it really well and circles away.
Perkins changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Alva Perkins has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Johnny Castle.
Castle tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Perkins defends well and Castle ends up having to push Perkins into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Perkins bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Castle's guard.

Castle changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Perkins tries to avoid it but Castle manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Perkins to the ground. Perkins escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Castle is trying to drag Perkins to the mat but Perkins just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Perkins drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Castle gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Perkins can't keep his opponent in guard - Castle advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Castle seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Perkins does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Perkins misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Perkins is pressing down on Castle's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Perkins is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Castle has hold of Perkins's hands but Perkins slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Castle is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Perkins is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Castle has managed to free his arm - good work.
Perkins thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Castle's head.

Castle throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Perkins's waist but Perkins gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Castle off to one side.

Perkins is trying to drag Castle to the mat but Castle just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Come on Perkins - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Perkins is looking to break free of the clinch but Castle has double underhooks.
Castle has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Perkins avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Perkins goes for a takedown attempt but Castle pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Perkins connects with an inside leg kick.
Castle dives in and grabs Perkins's left leg, looking for a takedown. Perkins pushes down on Castle's head and hops out.
Perkins lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Perkins.


It looks like Johnny Castle has been cut.
Castle has a takedown stuffed.
Perkins shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Castle eats them both and turns towards Perkins to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Perkins will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Castle fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Perkins avoids it really well and circles away.
Alva Perkins is winning the standup battle so far.
Perkins tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Castle defends well and Perkins ends up having to push Castle into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Perkins is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Castle can do to turn this around?

and Perkins counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Perkins is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Perkins not landing any meaningful shots this time.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Castle avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Perkins.

Perkins looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Alva Perkins showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Perkins has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
