Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between James Roberts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Han Solo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, James Roberts!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Han Solo!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Josh West and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roberts moves in looking to clinch but Solo pushes him off.
Solo wants to counter with a clinch but Roberts pushes him away.

Solo clinches.
Solo jumps guard but Roberts turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Solo misses with a knee to the head.
Solo jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Roberts walks away with a smile on his face. Solo gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Roberts tries to close the distance and clinch up but Solo swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Solo counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Roberts!

Solo stands up.
Solo circles away from the clinch attempt

and Solo counters with a nice double leg into side control. Roberts won't be happy with that.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Solo tries to advance to mount but Roberts denies him.
Solo takes a little break here. Roberts wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Solo tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Solo fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Solo in side control, throwing shots but Roberts defends.
Solo in side control, just content to control the action for now.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Solo stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Solo avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
The fight stays on the outside here - Roberts looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Solo drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Let's hope that Solo has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Solo's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Solo prevents Roberts from getting back to his feet.
Solo throws an elbow that misses. Roberts uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Solo's guard. Nice move by Roberts!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Solo throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Solo is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Solo is pulling down on Roberts's head to control his posture.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Solo closes this distance looking for a takedown but Roberts circles away.
James Roberts has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Han Solo.

The fight stays on the outside here - Roberts looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Solo is defended easily by Roberts.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Roberts tries to close the distance and clinch but Solo swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Roberts parries the strikes from Solo easily there. Solo is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Roberts to escape.
Roberts is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Solo is controlling him well.

Solo has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Solo swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Solo closes the distance and clinches.
Roberts misses with a punch on the inside.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Roberts.

Solo escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Roberts doesn't manage to clinch there - Solo circles away.
James Roberts is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

and Solo counters with a nice double leg into side control. Roberts won't be happy with that.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Solo moves into full mount!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Solo takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Solo unloads with some shots from mount but Roberts bucks and avoids them well.
Roberts really wants to buck Solo off and get back to his feet.

Roberts avoids a series of strikes thrown by Solo.
Solo sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Solo throwing strikes here but Roberts is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Roberts is trying to get back to his feet but can't.

Solo unloads with some shots from mount but Roberts bucks and avoids them well.

Han Solo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Roberts tries to close the distance and clinch up but Solo swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Solo is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Solo wants to control from the top but Roberts keeps moving.

Roberts is looking to stand up but Solo isn't so interested in that idea.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Roberts is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Solo is controlling him.

Solo is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
James Roberts has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Solo decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Roberts waves his right hand out in front of him, looking to distract Solo. Oh, he's unloaded a beast of a left hand - it worked! He's dropped Solo to the canvas! Can he finish him!?
Han Solo is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.


It looks like Han Solo has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Roberts being controlled here momentarily.

And that's the end of the fight!
Han Solo comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Solo winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In his post fight interview, Han Solo started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
