Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jon Melcher!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

We've been hearing reports that Meira has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Meira has Melcher pressed up against the cage in a tight Thai clinch. Melcher is arching his back, trying to avoid the knees but a big one sneaks through from Meira - that's hurt Melcher badly! Oh, another knee lands and Melcher is covering up! The referee steps in to save him - possibly a bit early but Melcher doesn't seem to be complaining.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Knees). Carlos Meira!
An out of breath Carlos Meira thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
The defeated Jon Melcher had this to say: 'We tried. We failed. I guess it's back to the ol' drawing board!'.
