Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Darwinghh Alvarez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dick Cheney (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dick Cheney is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dick Cheney!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Alexandre Firmino and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cheney throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Alvarez was covering up waiting for the punch and Cheney finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Alvarez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Alvarez can't keep his opponent in guard - Cheney advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Cheney drops back, looking for a kneebar! Alvarez looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Alvarez looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Alvarez!

Cheney looks to move to half guard but instead Alvarez has passed into mount! Damn!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Cheney can do anything to dispel that myth.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Alvarez is landing with some decent strikes but Cheney is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Cheney stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Cheney wants it to stay on the feet.
Alvarez doesn't manage to clinch there - Cheney circles away.
Darwinghh Alvarez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
No luck for Alvarez with that takedown attempt.
Cheney drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Alvarez defends it well.
Alvarez shoots in for a double leg but Cheney sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Cheney throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Alvarez tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Cheney is in Alvarez's guard.

Cheney is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Alvarez is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Alvarez has escaped and now he's on top!

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Cheney is on top in guard.

Cheney stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Alvarez swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Dick Cheney showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Alvarez's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Alvarez flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Cheney is keen to just control but Alvarez is a slippery customer.

Cheney is working for an americana but Alvarez has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Cheney was thinking about the submission.

Alvarez looking for subs off his back but Cheney has passed one foot through into half guard.

Cheney is looking for a kimura but Alvarez is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Cheney to get the leverage.

Cheney is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Cheney is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Alvarez has managed to free his arm - good work.
Cheney not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Alvarez is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Cheney's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Cheney's back!
Cheney has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Alvarez doesn't have the hooks in and Cheney manages to turn into his guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Cheney's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Cheney postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Alvarez is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Cheney, into his guard.

Alvarez throws an elbow that misses. Cheney uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Alvarez's guard. Nice move by Cheney!

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Alvarez wants to sweep but no luck.
Alvarez wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Cheney manages to pass to side control.

Dick Cheney comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Cheney has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
