Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Lynn Oneal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Edward Wates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Lynn Oneal!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Edward Wates!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, James Glass and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oneal fails with the takedown.

Wates has closed the distance and engaged Oneal in a clinch.

Wates breaks the clinch.
Oneal circles away from the clinch attempt.
Oneal appears to be looking for a big counter.

Wates has Oneal up against the cage in a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wates tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Oneal smiles and moves away.
Wates stuffs the takedown.
Edward Wates seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Oneal will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Wates tries to counter with a clinch but Oneal shakes him off and moves away.

Oneal gets to his feet - Wates follows without any prompting.

Wates closes the distance and pushes Oneal back into the cage.
Oneal misses with a hook to the ribs.
Wates tries to pull guard but Oneal holds him up against the cage and eventually Wates drops back down to his feet.

We've been informed that Wates has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Oneal is looking to work some ground and pound but Wates has wrist control.

Wates looking to hit a scissor sweep but Oneal is one step ahead there.
Oneal wanted to stand there but Wates had control of the position.
Wates working a defensive guard but Oneal manages to pass into side control anyway.

Oneal decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Wates shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Oneal is trying to defend but Wates finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Oneal pushes Wates off looking to stand but Wates dives back in and keeps control.
Wates tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wates missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Wates moves into full mount! Oneal won't be happy about that!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Wates working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Oneal keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Oneal reaches up to try and control the position but Wates seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Oneal rolls and tries to escape and now Wates has his back!

Oneal is having to fend off submission attempts from Wates, who is looking to sink in the choke. Wates doesn't have the hooks in though and Oneal manages to reverse position! He's now on top, in his opponent's guard.
Oneal's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Let's hope that Wates has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Wates is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Edward Wates has got the better of the ground game so far.
Wates keeping moving, preventing Oneal from controlling successfully.

Oneal wants to get up but he can't break Wates's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Oneal passes Wates's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Wates has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Oneal gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Wates tries to close the distance and clinch up but Oneal swats him away and circles back towards the center.
A thudding body kick lands there by Wates!
Wates shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Oneal sprawls well. Oneal wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Wates gets slowly back to his feet.

Nice takedown defense from Oneal. No joy for Wates on that attempt.

and Oneal counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Oneal.
Wates not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Wates is breathing heavily.
Oneal is looking to work some ground and pound but Wates has wrist control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wates pulls Oneal in close to prevent any damage.

That was a close second round but I would say that Lynn Oneal will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Oneal throws a big counter combination but Wates scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Oneal crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Wates - the referee stops the clock and Oneal gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Wates. Oneal manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Oneal changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Wates tries to avoid it but Oneal manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Wates to the ground. Wates escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Oneal is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Wates.
Oneal shoots for a double leg takedown but Wates sprawls well. He's pushed Oneal's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Wates clinches up with Oneal and pushes him back against the cage.
Oneal blocks an elbow strike from Wates.
Oneal tries to throw a body punch but Wates avoids it by throwing Oneal back against the cage.

Wates tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Wates escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Wates shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Oneal defends it nicely.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Oneal closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

I would just about give that final round to Edward Wates.
I think Wates has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
