The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A punch lands to the side of Carney 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Carney takes a swing at Santiago's ribcage but misses.
Santiago keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Carney.
Santiago lands with an overhand left.
Santiago throws a nice outside leg kick.
Santiago defending well as Carney loads up on a big left hand.
Carney doesn't manage to clinch there - Santiago circles away.
Carney throws a good cross that connects.
Santiago lands a slapping body shot.
Santiago jabs Carney right on the nose. Carney blinks but takes it well.
Carney waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Santiago.
Santiago throws a counter high kick but Carney was just alert enough to avoid it.
A nice leg kick lands there from Santiago.
A telegraphed right hand from Carney misses the target.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A head kick from Santiago lands but Carney takes it in his stride.
Santiago scores with a head kick. Carney tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Santiago throws a leg kick which misses Carney's front leg but catches the back leg as Carney tries to avoid it.
Santiago seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Carney misses with a hook.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Santiago.
Santiago connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Santiago misses with a body shot.

Carney is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Santiago throws a half hearted mid kick.
Carney throws a lazy right hand but Santiago sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Carney misses with a jab to the body
and Carney takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Carney throws a looping overhand right but Santiago ducks down to avoid it.
Santiago lands a jab to the nose.
Santiago throws a nice outside leg kick.
Santiago goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Carney throws a hook but Santiago blocks it.
Carney throws a body shot but no joy.
Santiago throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Carney's head.
A combination from Carney does no damage.
A jab from Carney misses.
Carney misses with a hook.
Santiago lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Santiago keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Santiago looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Carney swings for the body but Santiago moves out of range.
Santiago scores with a jab to the jaw.
Carney tries to clinch up.
Santiago tried to counter with a leg kick but Carney avoided it.
Santiago lands a head kick. Carney smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

and Santiago counters with a low kick, right behind Carney 's knee.

Carney takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.

Santiago connects with a leg kick. Carney looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
A looping hook to the body misses from Carney. Santiago does a little dance to reset his feet.
Santiago appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Carney throws a lazy uppercut
and Santiago counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Santiago lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Santiago swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Carney doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.

Carney lands a nice hook to Santiago's body. Santiago takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Santiago throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

and Santiago cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Nice uppercut lands for Santiago. That snapped Carney's head back.
Santiago plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!


Carney is rocked!
Carney throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Santiago.
A little feinted left hand from Santiago on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Santiago works the jab nicely.
Carney is still on wobbly legs! Can Santiago finish him?
Santiago connects with a single shot there.
A nice inside leg kick there by Santiago. That's going to slow Carney down.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Santiago lands a nice looking kick to the body. Carney takes a step back to recover.
Carney's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Carney throws a body shot but no joy.
Carney takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Santiago connects with a good right hand that stumbles Carney. Carney circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Carney looks to throw the jab but Santiago is out of range.
Carney with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Santiago to score with a decent uppercut.
Carney misses with a body shot.
Santiago drops down looking for a counter takedown but Carney sprawls and moves away.
and Santiago counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Carney! He's just covering up as Santiago starts to tee off till the referee steps in and stops the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jose Santiago!
