PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Aldrei Meira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ka'Ra LeVass (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Ka\'Ra LeVass was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Aldrei Meira!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ka'Ra LeVass!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Anthony Taglia and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab lands there for LeVass.
Meira misses with an uppercut. LeVass saw that one coming.
LeVass appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
LeVass punishes Meira's body with a nice straight punch.

LeVass drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Meira's coaches at GTi 888 have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.
Meira prevents LeVass from moving into mount.
Meira tries to buck LeVass off but LeVass is having none of it.
LeVass tries to move to mount but Meira blocks the move with his legs.
LeVass tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Meira looking for a sweep but LeVass has passed into full mount! Oh no!

Meira is looking for a sweep. LeVass is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

LeVass thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Meira's head.
LeVass throws a strike but Meira avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

Meira is wriggling around but LeVass manages to pass to half guard.
LeVass wants to pass the guard but Meira is defending well.
LeVass throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Meira to regain full guard.
LeVass trying to control the position from guard on top but Meira is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Meira pulls LeVass in close to prevent any damage.
LeVass won't allow Meira to sweep him here.

LeVass is looking to work some ground and pound but Meira has wrist control.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Meira slips a jab from LeVass.
LeVass lands with a good body shot.
LeVass goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.


It looks like Aldrei Meira has been cut.
LeVass scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Meira doesn't seem bothered though.
LeVass misses with a hook. Meira ducked under it nicely.
LeVass's coach down at Planet Granite was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on LeVass's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
LeVass throws a looping overhand right but Meira ducks down to avoid it.
Meira lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
LeVass lands with a good body shot.
LeVass ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Meira moves away.
Meira appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
LeVass bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

LeVass throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Meira sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Ka'Ra LeVass seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
LeVass connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Meira's hands.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
LeVass throws a body punch but Meira moves out of range.
It looked like Meira wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
LeVass misses with a takedown attempt - Meira sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
LeVass ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Meira moves away.
Meira quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.
LeVass lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Meira at a distance.
Meira takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
LeVass misses with a few strikes there.

LeVass throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Meira half committed to a counter leg kick.
LeVass throws a right hand that Meira ducks under and follows up with a left that Meira also avoids with ease.
A little feinted left hand from Meira on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Meira tests LeVass's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Meira doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Nice body punch from LeVass.
LeVass shoots in for a takedown but Meira shows good takedown defense.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Meira keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Meira tries to clinch but LeVass is having none of it.
LeVass cracks Meira with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Nice defenses there by Meira.
Ka'Ra LeVass seems to be getting the better of the standup.

LeVass manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Meira on his heels. He'll look to pass Meira's guard now, I'm sure.
Meira is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
LeVass seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Meira wants to stand and escape but LeVass is having none of it.

Meira has momentary wrist control but LeVass slips an elbow through the middle.

LeVass is looking to take a break and control but Meira is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
You can see the frustration on Meira's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Meira tries to bench press LeVass off him but LeVass keeps the position.

Ka'Ra LeVass showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round!


Meira takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
LeVass misses with a body shot
and Meira counters with a straight right hand.

Meira is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from LeVass.
Meira's hands are dropping dangerously low here and LeVass connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Meira scrambles back to his feet.

Meira lands a really nice looking cross but LeVass seems unphased.

Ka'Ra LeVass is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

LeVass comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Meira takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

LeVass tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
LeVass swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
LeVass misses with a looping left.
Meira swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
LeVass lands with a shot to the body.
LeVass lands a jab to the nose.
LeVass fails to land the takedown.
LeVass takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ka'Ra LeVass comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well LeVass has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
