The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Bourcier.
Bourcier lands a decent elbow from side control.
Shango is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Bourcier is controlling him well.
Bourcier cracks Shango with a big elbow.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bourcier looks up at the clock and then as Shango takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Bourcier smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Shango on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Shango tries to get out of the position.
Bourcier trying to control the action but Shango is working from the bottom.
Bourcier cracks Shango with a big right hand but Shango just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Bourcier goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Shango rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Bourcier's guard! Nice work there by Shango!

Shango wants to stand and escape but instead Bourcier has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Silvain Bourcier seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Bourcier closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Shango quickly recovers to half guard.
Shango tries to kick Bourcier off but Bourcier keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Bourcier looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Shango with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Bourcier stops Shango from getting back to his feet.

Bourcier is looking for a kimura but Shango is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Bourcier to get the leverage.

Shango has hold of Bourcier's hands but Bourcier slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Shango is looking to escape.
Bourcier landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
