PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sinbad Baba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and JJ Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Baba comes to the cage accompanied by King of Seven Seas. Thomas has chosen Linkin Park - In the End as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sinbad Baba!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, JJ Thomas!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Stewart Dunkirk and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Baba misses with a leg kick
and Thomas counters with a stiff right hand.

Thomas misses with a looping left.
Baba will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Thomas drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Baba defends it well.
Baba cracks the inside of Thomas's front leg.
Baba is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Thomas feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Baba bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Thomas's guard.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Thomas shoots in looking for a takedown but Baba manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Thomas's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Thomas swings around for an armbar but Baba sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Thomas's guard.

Thomas postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Baba is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Thomas, into his guard.

Baba sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Thomas's guard.

Thomas tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Thomas has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Baba, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
