The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Russell Pearce and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Joans fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Johns looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Johns. Joans shrugs it off though.
A jab from Johns finds it's way through Joans's defenses.
Johns throws a sloppy head kick and Joans moves out of range easily.

Joans trying to control but Johns is working from the bottom.
Joans pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Johns is keeping the position for now.
Johns looking to hit a scissor sweep but Joans is one step ahead there.

Johns tries to lock up and control but Joans gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Johns jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Johns doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Joans counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Joans controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Joans working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Johns's head.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Joans closes the distance and clinches up with Johns, looking for a takedown. Joans pushes Johns against the cage but Johns circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Alain Johns is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Johns drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Joans parries the strikes from Johns easily there. Johns is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Joans to escape.
