Monte Melkonian has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Melkonian drives through with a takedown into Dos Santos's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Melkonian definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Dos Santos looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Melkonian puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Melkonian is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Dos Santos has managed to free his arm - good work.
Dos Santos tries to roll over but Melkonian keeps him under control.

Melkonian seems to be looking for submissions.

Melkonian thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Melkonian is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Melkonian drops back looking for a leg! Dos Santos is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Dos Santos manages to kick Melkonian off! Melkonian jumps back into Dos Santos's guard.

Melkonian is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Dos Santos is looking for a sweep. Melkonian is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Melkonian works his foot free and advances to mount.
Melkonian breaks from Dos Santos's wrist control and lands an elbow.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Melkonian sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Melkonian misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Melkonian is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Dos Santos can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Melkonian has isolated one of Dos Santos's arms. Dos Santos looking to fight him off but Melkonian twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!

Monte Melkonian very nearly forgot to thank Das Labor amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
