The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Diesel manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Waters on his heels. He'll look to pass Waters's guard now, I'm sure.

Diesel drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Waters manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Diesel has Waters in his guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Diesel pushes Waters away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Waters gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

The fighters circle momentarily. Waters darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Diesel throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Waters was covering up waiting for the punch and Diesel finishes the takedown easily into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Waters has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Diesel is on him like a limpet, forcing Waters back against the cage.
