Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shawn May (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Frank Dennis and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
May tries a head kick but it misses.

May is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Jones.
It looks like Jones might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Jones. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
May wants to clinch up but Jones keeps it at a distance.

Jones bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Jones postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Jones tries to score with some ground and pound. May controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Jones decides to stand back up. Jones steps back and let's May get back to his feet.

Jones looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

May looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Jones is taking a breather. May says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Jones wants to pass to mount but May is defending the position.
Jones is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Jones seems to be working for a kimura but May defends the submission attempt.

The fighters are battling for position here. May manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Jones is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Jones isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. May stacks Jones on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by May!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
May doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
May is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

May utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

John Jones comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Jones winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
