Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Calgary Alberta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Quiet Monkey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Monkey's choice of entrance music: Epic - Faith No More. Quiet Monkey will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Quiet Monkey!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Dillan Fox and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alberta looks to score with a jab to the body but Monkey is just out of range.
Alberta fails in his attempt to clinch.
Monkey scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!


It looks like Calgary Alberta has been cut.
Monkey wants to clinch up but Alberta keeps it at a distance.
Alberta tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Monkey takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Monkey misses with the combination.
Monkey shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Alberta defends it nicely.
Monkey shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Alberta as he jumps to the side.

My spies in Montreal Elite Gym inform me that Monkey has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Alberta wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Monkey, who protects the arm well.

Alberta is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Monkey knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Monkey is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Monkey manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Alberta wants to free his trapped foot but Monkey is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Alberta is looking to advance position but Monkey won't allow it.

We've been told by Alberta's head coaches at Slaughterhouse - LOD that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Monkey keeps the fight on the outside.
Monkey tries to clinch up but Alberta circles away and keeps his distance.
Monkey on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Monkey parries the strikes from Alberta easily there. Alberta is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Monkey to escape.

Alberta goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Monkey rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Alberta's guard! Nice work there by Monkey!

Monkey is fighting to break Alberta's control of his arms but Alberta is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Monkey stands and throws Alberta's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Alberta might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
