PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Chambers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ricky Ryder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chambers comes to the cage accompanied by Ain't No Rest for the Wicked. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Chambers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ricky Ryder!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Elvis Blanc and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ryder fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Some wild striking there from Chambers.
Chambers shoots and misses
and Ryder counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Chambers displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Ryder throws out the jab.
Ryder tries to clinch but Chambers moves out of range.
Ryder misses with a few strikes there.

Chambers gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Chambers is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Ryder gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Ryder pulls guard effortlessly.
Chambers could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Chambers lands a couple of elbows.
Chambers trying to control but Ryder is working from the bottom.
Ryder looking to hit a scissor sweep but Chambers is one step ahead there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ryder wriggles free and stands up.
The fighters circle momentarily. Ryder darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Chambers falls off balance throwing a combination

and Ryder counters with a shoot takedown. Chambers fights it but they end up in guard.

Chambers working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ryder doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ryder manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Ryder is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Chambers is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Chambers has escaped and now he's on top!

Chambers drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Chambers jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Ryder is looking for a triangle but Chambers pushes his legs off easily.
Ryder is trying to control the position but Chambers postures up.
Chambers stops Ryder from standing up.

Ryder escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Chambers gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
A combination from Chambers does no damage.
Some bone on bone action there as Ryder checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Chambers tries for a takedown but Ryder sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Chambers. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A combination from Chambers does no damage.
Ryder throws a sloppy head kick and Chambers moves out of range easily.

Ryder changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Chambers tries to avoid it but Ryder manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Chambers to the ground. Chambers escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Chambers shoots for a takedown but Ryder saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Ryder shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Chambers tries to lock up and control but Ryder gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Ryder really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Chambers. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Chambers is in all sorts of trouble here.

The referee warns Chambers that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Ryder wants to finish this one by submission but Chambers is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Ryder.

Ryder turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Ryder manages to end up in side control.

Ryder stands up and beckons Chambers to his feet.
Ryder shoots for a double leg takedown but Chambers sprawls well. He's pushed Ryder's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Chambers misses with a series of wild punches.

Chambers drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Ryder gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Chambers might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Chambers drops back, looking for a kneebar! Ryder looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Ryder looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Ryder!

Ryder decides to stand up, so the ref orders Chambers to his feet.

Ryder turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Ryder manages to end up in side control.

Chambers is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Ricky Ryder showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Ryder feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Chambers can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Ryder controls the pace.

Chambers isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Ryder stacks Chambers on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Ryder!

Ricky Ryder comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Ryder has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
