Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lance Steele (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pete Ashworth (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lance Steele!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Pete Ashworth!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Jorge Garcia and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Steele looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Steele tries to clinch there but Ashworth circles away.
Steele is looking to clinch.
Steele tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ashworth paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Steele tries to close the distance and clinch but Ashworth swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Ashworth fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Steele tries to clinch but Ashworth is having none of it.
Steele wants to clinch up but Ashworth keeps it at a distance.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Ashworth throws a sloppy head kick and Steele moves out of range easily.

Steele tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ashworth swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Ashworth drives through and clinches with Steele against the cage.

Ashworth lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Ashworth is nestled in close to Steele, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Steele wants to get back to his feet.
Steele moves into full guard.
Ashworth postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Steele is working an open guard so Ashworth takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Steele wants to clinch

and Ashworth counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Ashworth.
Ashworth trying to control the position from guard on top but Steele is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ashworth lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Steele looking for a sweep. Not yet Steele, not yet.

Steele working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ashworth doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ashworth manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Steele is breathing heavily.
Ashworth advances position into side control!
Ashworth is putting a hurting on Steele here, landing some big shots from side control.

Ashworth thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Ashworth cracks Steele with a big right hand but Steele just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Steele wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Steele wants to control but Ashworth postures up.
Ashworth wants to take a breather but Steele manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Ashworth.

Ashworth must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Steele is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Ashworth is controlling him.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Steele wants to clinch but Ashworth slips to the side

and Ashworth counters with a takedown into side control.
Steele is trying to control Ashworth's posture but Ashworth avoids it.
Steele manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Ashworth manages to get to full guard.
Ashworth trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Steele stands and steps away. Ashworth gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Steele closes the distance looking to clinch

and Ashworth counters by moving into the clinch.
Steele could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Steele landing knees to the head.
Steele using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Ashworth has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Steele landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Steele stalling in the clinch but Ashworth improves position.
Ashworth tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Steele tries to land knees in the clinch but Ashworth avoids the damage to the body.
Steele misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Ashworth.
Ashworth is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Steele gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Steele tries to land knees in the clinch but Ashworth avoids the damage to the body.
Steele with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ashworth blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Steele can't find room to land a body shot as Ashworth controls the action.

Steele tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Ashworth smiles and moves away.
Ashworth throws a body punch but Steele moves out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pete Ashworth dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Steele closes the distance but Ashworth moves to the side

and Ashworth counters by clinching up.
Steele connects with a nasty looking knee right to Ashworth's face.

Ashworth breaks the clinch.
Ashworth swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Steele looks to clinch

and Ashworth counters with a shoot takedown. Steele fights it but they end up in guard.

Steele working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ashworth doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Steele is tightening it up a little... Ashworth has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Ashworth reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Ashworth taps out! nice BJJ there by Steele!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:36 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Lance Steele!
