Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between James Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rocky Putzillini (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Scott's entrance music is Massive Attack - One thought at a time. A fine choice. Rocky Putzillini will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, James Scott!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rocky Putzillini!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Columbo Gatti and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scott misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Scott tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Putzillini paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Scott darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Putzillini regains full guard. Nicely done.
Putzillini really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Scott. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Putzillini tries to kick Scott off in order to stand up. Scott Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Scott tries to score with some ground and pound. Putzillini controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Scott tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Scott wants to lay and pray for a moment but Putzillini keeps working.
Scott tries to move to full mount but Putzillini actually manages to regain half guard.
Putzillini is trying to stand up here but Scott is controlling him well.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Scott closes the distance and clinches up with Putzillini, looking for a takedown. Scott pushes Putzillini against the cage but Putzillini circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Putzillini fails to land with a series of punches.

Rocky Putzillini is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Putzillini throws the left hand but Scott avoids the punch easily.
Putzillini misses with the combination.
Scott shoots in for a double leg but Putzillini sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Putzillini throws a right hand that Scott ducks under and follows up with a left that Scott also avoids with ease.
Putzillini misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Putzillini fails to land with a series of punches.
Putzillini looks gassed!
Scott throws a head kick that misses.
Putzillini misses with a few strikes there.
Putzillini scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Scott looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Putzillini!

Scott darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Scott is trying to control the action in half guard but Putzillini is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Scott looks to land a strike but Putzillini avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Scott is really struggling to control Putzillini but he's trying to hold on to the position.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Scott accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Scott stays in close to Putzillini's body and controls the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee stands the fighters back up. James Scott just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Putzillini keeps the fight on the outside.

Putzillini gets caught flat footed, as Scott shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Putzillini looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Scott puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Scott throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Scott is looking to advance position but Putzillini won't allow it.
Scott uses his free foot to push down on Putzillini's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Putzillini.

Putzillini slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Scott connects with a nice short shot to Putzillini's temple.
Scott tries to pass to full mount but Putzillini defends it.

Scott wants to free his trapped foot but Putzillini is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Scott is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Putzillini defends it well.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Scott wants to take a breather but Putzillini is having none of it.
Scott is stalling here. Putzillini is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Scott seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Putzillini has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Scott avoids a punch combination nicely.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Scott shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Putzillini as he jumps to the side.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Scott dominated that second round.
That's time! Scott's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Scott looks for a takedown but Putzillini sprawls well.

Scott shoots in looking for a takedown. Putzillini tries to sprawl out of it but Scott keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Putzillini manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Putzillini connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Scott's hands.

Rocky Putzillini has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Scott stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Putzillini swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Putzillini throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Scott sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Scott gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Scott fails in his attempt to clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Scott fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Scott. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Scott drives through with a takedown into guard.
Scott won't allow Putzillini to get back to his feet.
Putzillini seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Scott tries to free his leg and advance position but Putzillini is retaining full guard.
Putzillini wants to get back to his feet but Scott is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

James Scott overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

James Scott is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Scott fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Putzillini, pushing him back against the cage.
Putzillini lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Putzillini lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Putzillini swings away with an uppercut that misses.
A right handed body shot lands from Putzillini.

And that's the end of the fight!
Rocky Putzillini comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Scott has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
