PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Darth Mauler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Young Quan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Young Quan enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Darth Mauler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Young Quan!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Dirk Anderson and Daniel Franklin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Quan. Mauler does a little dance to reset his feet.
Nice straight punches there by Mauler. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Mauler.
Mauler takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Quan misses with a series of wild punches.
Mauler ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Quan moves away.
Mauler on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Mauler stalks Quan and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Quan's face. Quan staggers backwards, shaken.

Mauler definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

and Mauler counters with a lovely shot to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mauler throws a shot to the body.
Mauler throws a body punch but Quan moves out of range.
Quan takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Quan misses with a looping left.
Quan looks to score with a jab to the body but Mauler is just out of range.
Quan punishes Mauler's body with a nice straight punch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Quan misses the shot to the body.
Quan pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Mauler appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Quan tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Mauler manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Mauler was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Quan misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Mauler counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Quan throws a body shot but no joy.
Mauler uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Quan.
Quan swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Mauler counters with a nice body shot.
Quan scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Quan loads up on a big right hand but Mauler slips the punch.
Mauler was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Quan misses with a combination
and Mauler counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Quan looks winded!

Mauler feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Quan sprawling to the canvas! Quan rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Mauler finish him?!

Quan is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Quan takes a swing at Mauler's ribcage but misses.
Mauler misses with a wild body shot.
Quan walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
BOOM! Mauler lands a beautiful left hook that drops Quan. Quan tries to recover but Mauler is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Quan lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Darth Mauler!
A relieved looking Darth Mauler thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
