PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tyson Wake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and DJ Skeet (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Columbo Gatti and John Kavanagh.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Skeet darts in looking for a takedown but Wake gets double underhooks and turns Skeet into the cage.
Wake closes the distance but Skeet moves to the side
and Skeet counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Wake shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Skeet's guard.
Wake looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wake connects with a couple of short punches.

Wake lands a couple of elbows.
Wake is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Wake gets to his feet - Skeet follows without any prompting.
Skeet fakes the leg kick and cracks Wake in the body.
Skeet blocks a head kick by Wake.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Skeet slips under a jab from Wake.
Skeet misses with a takedown attempt - Wake sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
It looked like Wake was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Wake throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Skeet tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Wake is in Skeet's guard.

Wake thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Skeet wants to hit a switch here but Wake passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Skeet there!
Wake tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Wake stands up from mount. Strange move.
Wake tries to clinch up.
Wake displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Skeet.
Tyson Wake has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of DJ Skeet.
Skeet looks winded!

Wake closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Wake is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Wake looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Skeet with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Skeet is looking to get back to full guard here but Wake has managed to pass to side control instead.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Wake advances nicely into full mount.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Skeet is rocked!
Wake controlling the position easily from mount.
Skeet is still in real trouble! Can Wake finish him?
Wake unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Skeet wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Wake celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
