The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kirkland swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Kirkland works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

It looks like Kurt Schmid has been cut.
Schmid jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Nice straight punches there by Kirkland. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Kirkland.
Kirkland throws a series of punches but Schmid moves out of range.
Schmid was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Kirkland lands a nice hook to Schmid's body. Schmid takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Troy Kirkland seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kirkland tries to clinch
and Kirkland takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Kirkland jabs Schmid to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Kirkland connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Schmid looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Kirkland dips to his left and cracks Schmid with an uppercut!

Schmid is rocked!

Schmid leaves his chin hanging out and Kirkland seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! Schmid crumbles to the floor in a heap! The referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!
