Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jon Hess (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arvydas Sabonis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hess comes to the cage accompanied by Demiurge. Sabonis has chosen James Brown - Superbad as his entrance music. Arvydas Sabonis told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sabonis connects with a leg kick. Hess looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Hess connects with a solid leg kick.
Sabonis blocks a leg kick.
Hess lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Hess blocks a leg kick.
Hess lands with a hook. Sabonis tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Sabonis tries to clinch up.
Hess blocks the body kick.
Hess is looking to clinch but Sabonis is avoiding it.
Sabonis blocks a jab.
Hess uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Sabonis.
Hess walks forward, straight into a front kick from Sabonis.
Sabonis scores with a decent looking hook.
Sabonis feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Hesss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Sabonis tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
A combination from Sabonis does no damage.
An inside leg kick from Hess misses.
Hess on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Sabonis lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Sabonis throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Hess takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Hess on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Sabonis takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Hess is looking to land body kicks.

It looks like Jon Hess has been cut.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Sabonis.
Hess misses with a leg kick.
Hess misses the jab.
Sabonis was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Sabonis cracks the inside of Hess's front leg.
Sabonis is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Sabonis tries to score with a low kick but Hess moves his leg out of the way.
Hess throwing a counter right hand but Sabonis manages to avoid it.
Sabonis has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Sabonis throws a leg kick but Hess sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Hess is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Hess takes the fight into the clinch.
Hess makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Hess works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Hess cracks Sabonis with a nice body shot.
Sabonis prevents a body shot from Hess.
Hess gets through Sabonis's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Hess tries to throw a body punch but Sabonis avoids it by throwing Hess back against the cage.
Sabonis tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Hess lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Sabonis backwards.
Hess blocks an uppercut.
Hess lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Hess lands a right hand that snaps the head of Sabonis backwards.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Hess creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Sabonis is rocked!

A nice left hand lands by Hess.
Hess lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Sabonis backwards.
A left hand lands to the body for Hess.
Hess tries to throw a body punch but Sabonis avoids it by throwing Hess back against the cage.
Hess can't find room to land a body shot as Sabonis controls the action.
Hess lands with a left to the head.
Hess lands a body shot in the clinch.
The fighters are playing wrist control here with Sabonis pressed against the cage. Hess frees himself up and cracks Sabonis with an uppercut straight from the bowels of hell! Sabonis crumples to the floor, out cold! Hess jumps on to the cage and takes in the roar of the crowd! That was nasty!
