The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Quirat slaps away a takedown attempt from Maer, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Quirat unleashes a big counter combination but Maer bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Quirat looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Maer tries for a takedown but Quirat sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
A nice inside leg kick there by Maer. That's going to slow Quirat down.

Maer shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Maer was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Quirat seems a little lost for a moment, as Maer dominates the positioning.
Quirat wants to control but Maer postures up.
Maer grinds an elbow into Quirat's temple.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Maer stands up and beckons Quirat to his feet.

Maer feints and as Quirat raises his hands in defense, Maer changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Maer slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Maer works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Maer in particular looking to stall.
Maer passes the guard and advances to mount!
Maer lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Maer throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Quirat has his hands clasped together but Maer breaks the hold and Quirat is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Maer!
