The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Benoit thows a left - swing and a miss!
Mauler throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
An attempted straight right counter from Benoit misses the target.
Benoit doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
A slow jab from Mauler misses its intended target.
Benoit was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Benoit fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Mauler on the side of the head.
No joy there for Mauler, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Darth Mauler seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mauler scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Mauler takes a swing at Benoit 's ribcage but misses.
Benoit is looking to counter punch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Benoit ducks under a wild hook from Mauler.
Mauler misses the jab.
Mauler's jab looks to have found its range, popping Benoit under the eye.

Benoit is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Mauler.

Mauler drives through and clinches with Benoit against the cage.
Still in the clinch, Mauler scores with a nice short uppercut.
Benoit is trying to maintain a safe position but Mauler gets an underhook and turns Benoit into the cage.
Mauler pushes Benoit back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Mauler keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Benoit 's efforts to push away.
Mauler is struggling to control the position.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Mauler.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mauler presses Benoit against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Mauler pushes Benoit against the cage. Mauler is working some dirty boxing. Mauler pushes off with a quick right hook! Benoit goes down! Benoit tries to stand but stumbles back to his kness! Mauler moves in to finish and the ref steps in to prevent any more damage!
