PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Zach Allen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alvaro Miguelito (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Zach Allen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Alvaro Miguelito!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Robert Douchet and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Allen displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Miguelito.
Zach Allen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Allen looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Allen throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Miguelito changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Allen looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Miguelito creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Miguelito wants to control but Allen is keeping him busy.
Miguelito lands a nice forearm strike.
Miguelito wants to stand but Allen has his arm trapped.

Miguelito is trying to get an arm triangle but Allen is defending well.

Miguelito tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Miguelito has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Allen definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Allen tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Miguelito wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Miguelito wants to lay and pray for a moment but Allen keeps working.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Miguelito thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Miguelito wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Allen, who protects the arm well.

Allen is not content to let Miguelito control the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Allen lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Miguelito circles away quickly and effectively.
Miguelito drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Allen defends it well.
Allen fails with an attempt to clinch.
Allen tries to clinch up but Miguelito circles away and keeps his distance.
Miguelito shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Allen takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
A nice leg kick lands there from Miguelito.
Allen shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Miguelito counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Miguelito dives in and grabs Allen's left leg, looking for a takedown. Allen pushes down on Miguelito's head and hops out.
An attempted straight right counter from Allen misses the target.
Zach Allen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alvaro Miguelito.

Miguelito closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Allen did well to prevent Miguelito getting side control.
Allen pushes Miguelito off looking to stand but Miguelito dives back in and keeps control.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Miguelito thuds his shin into the meat of Allen's side.
Miguelito shoots in but Allen avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Allen blocks a head kick by Miguelito.
Miguelito scores with a one two! Allen had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Miguelito throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Allen was covering up waiting for the punch and Miguelito finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Allen is looking to stand up but Miguelito isn't so interested in that idea.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Allen keeping moving, preventing Miguelito from controlling successfully.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Miguelito tries to stand but Allen is controlling from the bottom.
Miguelito stays in close to Allen's body and controls the position.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Allen has a closed guard, preventing Miguelito from standing up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Miguelito lands a head kick!
Allen tries to clinch but Miguelito is having none of it.
Allen throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Miguelito counters with a left and a right that stings Allen.
Allen takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Miguelito delivers a nice body kick.
Allen gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Miguelito drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Alvaro Miguelito has got the better of the ground game so far.
Miguelito wants to control from the top but Allen keeps moving.

Miguelito engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Allen keeping moving, preventing Miguelito from controlling successfully.
Miguelito controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Miguelito is looking to stand up but Allen won't let him.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Miguelito wants to control from the top but Allen keeps moving.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Miguelito bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Allen keeps Miguelito under control for a moment.
Allen is trying to control Miguelito's posture but Miguelito avoids it.
Miguelito is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Allen can't do much from the bottom here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alvaro Miguelito showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Allen tries to keep at a distance but Miguelito has taken the fight into the clinch.

Miguelito breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Miguelito has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Allen tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Miguelito ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Miguelito no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Allen with a flurry of punches that miss.
Miguelito is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Miguelito really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Allen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Allen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Miguelito swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Miguelito manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Miguelito clinches up against the cage.
Nice body punch from Miguelito - that landed with a thud.
Miguelito jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Allen walks away with a smile on his face. Miguelito gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Miguelito!

Miguelito closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Allen tries to kick Miguelito off but Miguelito keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Miguelito wants to advance to full mount but Allen doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Allen holds on and takes a little breather.
Allen is looking to stand up but Miguelito isn't so interested in that idea.

Miguelito seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Allen misses with a knee to the head.

Miguelito tightens his grip and picks Allen up, before dumping him to the ground. Allen manages to land in guard.

Alvaro Miguelito is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Miguelito wants to take a breather but Allen is having none of it.

Well Miguelito has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
