The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Drummond throws a body kick that misses.
Drummond lands with a shot to the body.

Drummond throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Kowalczyk tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Drummond is in Kowalczyk's guard.
Drummond sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Kowalczyk's guard.
Drummond moves nicely into side control.
Drummond tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kowalczyk takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Kowalczyk seems a little lost for a moment, as Drummond dominates the positioning.

Kowalczyk regains half guard, as Drummond was trying to land strikes.
Kowalczyk is in trouble now - Drummond has advanced to mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Drummond is in the full mount, landing strikes.

Drummond misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Kowalczyk looks winded!

Drummond is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Drummond extends the arm and Kowalczyk is forced to tap!
