PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nathan Rook (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raizer Sorrow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rook's entrance music is Rocks/Primal Scream. A fine choice. The crowd seem to be enjoying Sorrow's choice of entrance music: DMX - Slippin' get the fuck up. Raizer Sorrow told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nathan Rook!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Raizer Sorrow!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Stewart Dunkirk and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rook misses the shot to the body.
Sorrow has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
A swing and a miss from Rook.
Rook throws a shot to the body.
Rook thows a left - swing and a miss!
Rook throws a right hand that Sorrow ducks under and follows up with a left that Sorrow also avoids with ease.
Rook lands with a good body shot.
Sorrow works the jab nicely.
Rook swings for the body but Sorrow moves out of range.
Rook has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Sorrow drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Sorrow jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Sorrow thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Sorrow wants to control from the top but Rook keeps moving.
Sorrow postures up in Rook's guard and throws a big left but Rook blocks it.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sorrow tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Rook paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Sorrow connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Rook connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Sorrow's hands.
Rook cracks Sorrow with a good jab.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Rook misses with a hook. Sorrow ducked under it nicely.
It seemed like Sorrow was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Rook looks to throw the jab but Sorrow is out of range.
Sorrow uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Rook.
Sorrow swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Rook swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Rook throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Rook ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Sorrow moves away.
Rook scores with the left hand. Sorrow knows he should have avoided that one.
Sorrow stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Nathan Rook is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Rook misses with a hook. Sorrow ducked under it nicely.
Rook throws a big shot that misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sorrow has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Rook's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Rook duly obliges.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rook misses with an uppercut. Sorrow saw that one coming.
A jab from Rook finds it's way through Sorrow's defenses.
Rook moves out of range as Sorrow strikes.
Sorrow throws a right hand that Rook ducks under and follows up with a left that Rook also avoids with ease.

Rook misses with an uppercut. Sorrow saw that one coming.
Rook clobbers Sorrow with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Rook is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Sorrow can do to turn this around?

Rook uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Sorrow.
Rook jabs Sorrow to the body, keeping him at a distance.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Rook throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Sorrow connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Rook takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

and Sorrow counters with a big slam. Rook looks out but Sorrow is landing strikes to his unconscious opponent! Eventually the ref steps in to save Rook from any more punishment. A brutal conclusion to the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Slam). Raizer Sorrow!
Raizer Sorrow decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
