Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gregers Westerberg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roberto Piras (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Westerberg comes to the cage accompanied by Maitre Gims - J'me Tire. Roberto Piras has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gregers Westerberg!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Roberto Piras!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, George Francis and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Westerberg fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Piras sprawls well initially but Westerberg persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Westerberg tries to pass to full mount but Piras defends it.

Westerberg is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Westerberg wants to free his trapped foot but Piras is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Piras wants to improve his position but Westerberg is controlling well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Piras looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

We've been hearing that Westerberg has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Piras had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Westerberg defends it easily.

Piras working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Westerberg doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Westerberg manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Piras is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Piras escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Westerberg gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Westerberg wants to pass the guard but Piras is keeping the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Piras has hold of Westerberg's hands but Westerberg slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Westerberg wants to work for an arm triangle but Piras is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Piras is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Westerberg pulls his head out easily.
Westerberg looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Piras with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Westerberg closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Piras did well to prevent Westerberg getting side control.

Gregers Westerberg overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Westerberg seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Westerberg wants to pass the guard but Piras is defending well.

Westerberg is pushing down on Piras's leg trying to pass to half guard. Piras is fighting to maintain full guard but Westerberg has managed to sneak the leg through.

Piras tries to roll over but Westerberg keeps him under control.

Westerberg passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Piras!

Westerberg is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Piras can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Westerberg looking to control but Piras is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Westerberg has control of Piras's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Piras regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Piras is in all sorts of trouble here.

Westerberg goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Piras is on top in guard.

That's time! Westerberg's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Westerberg drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Piras is looking to reverse the position.

Westerberg is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Piras is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Piras is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Westerberg off and has taken his back!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Piras is trying to stick to Westerberg's back but Westerberg is turning into Piras. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Piras's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Westerberg.

Westerberg is trying to control. Piras wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Westerberg is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Piras is surviving well by controlling Westerberg's body position as best he can.

BOOM! Westerberg connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Piras is still in real trouble! Can Westerberg finish him?
Piras can't escape the position.
Piras seems to have recovered his senses.

Westerberg has hold of Piras's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Piras manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Piras tries to reverse the position but Westerberg maintains control.

Westerberg is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Piras to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Piras shrugs it off.
Oooooh, big shot lands for Westerberg! Piras is hurt baaadly! Westerberg is firing away with more strikes - Piras is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:29 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Gregers Westerberg!
