PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kaleb Strader (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Keizou Ishizaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ishizaki has chosen Japanese Rap as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kaleb Strader!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Keizou Ishizaki!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Stewart Dunkirk and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Strader gets caught flat footed, as Ishizaki shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Strader looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Ishizaki passes into half guard.
Strader punching from the bottom.
Strader is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Strader throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Strader throws a sloppy strike from the bottom. He's now off balance and Ishizaki manages to pass to side control.
Ishizaki gets to mount! Strader was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Strader sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Ishizaki thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Strader's head.

Ishizaki is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Strader looking for submissions off his back.
Strader landing rabbit punches to the side of Ishizaki's head. Not doing much damage but still scoring a few points.
Strader is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Ishizaki scores with a couple of nice shots.
Strader moves into full guard.
Strader has momentary wrist control but Ishizaki slips an elbow through the middle.

Ishizaki drops back looking for a leg! Strader is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Strader manages to kick Ishizaki off! Ishizaki jumps back into Strader's guard.
Strader bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Ishizaki's guard.

Ishizaki utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Strader throws a strike but Ishizaki rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Strader is breathing heavily.
Ishizaki trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Ishizaki thows a big elbow that misses.
Ishizaki connects with a couple of short punches.
Strader throws a couple of heel strikes.

Ishizaki postures up and lands a big shot to Strader's brow.

Strader is looking for a triangle but Ishizaki pushes his legs off easily.
Strader tries to strike from the bottom.
Ishizaki lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Strader wants to hit a switch here but Ishizaki passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Strader there!

Ishizaki looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Ishizaki postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Strader looks a forlorn figure.
Strader is in all sorts of trouble here.
Strader has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Strader wants to control but Ishizaki is having none of it.
Strader is bucking up trying to escape but Ishizaki cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
A nice elbow there by Ishizaki.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Keizou Ishizaki dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Ishizaki shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Strader looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Ishizaki puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Ishizaki blocks the strikes from Strader.
Ishizaki throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Strader tries to roll over but Ishizaki keeps him under control.
Ishizaki scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Strader is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Ishizaki jumps into side control!

Ishizaki thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Ishizaki tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Ishizaki has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Ishizaki landing strikes.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Strader is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Ishizaki's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Keizou Ishizaki has got the better of the ground game so far.
Strader tries to get to full guard but Ishizaki has control of the leg.
Ishizaki looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Strader with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Ishizaki winds up and cracks Strader with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Ishizaki working over Strader with some ground and pound. Strader looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Strader on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Strader throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Ishizaki seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Ishizaki throws an overhand right that lands on Strader's shoulder, as Strader tries to avoid the shot.
Strader shoots in looking for a takedown. Ishizaki tries to sprawl out of it but Strader keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ishizaki manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
The fight stays on the outside here - Strader looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Ishizaki drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Strader sneaks out the side door and pushes Ishizaki away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Ishizaki shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
A left and a right from Strader both land. Nice combination.
Strader fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Ishizaki fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Strader looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Strader tries for a takedown but Ishizaki sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kaleb Strader. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Ishizaki bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Strader is working to avoid the ground and pound but Ishizaki connects with a decent elbow.

Ishizaki is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Strader is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Keizou Ishizaki showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Ishizaki gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Strader shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Kaleb Strader has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Strader lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Strader is looking to work some ground and pound but Ishizaki has wrist control.

Strader is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Strader is looking to stand back up but Ishizaki counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Strader.

Keizou Ishizaki comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Ishizaki has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
