PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hans Beijer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pablo Escobar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Beijer comes to the cage accompanied by David hasselhoff - Looking for freedome. Escobar has chosen Big Pun - Brave in The Heart as his entrance music. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Hans Beijer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Pablo Escobar!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Escobar lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.


It looks like Hans Beijer has been cut.
Escobar closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Beijer has been working on his boxing with his coaches at [LOD]Berlin Giants in the buildup to the fight.
Escobar lands with an overhand left.
Beijer swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Escobar appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Escobar walks into a jab.
Beijer scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Beijer tries for a takedown but Escobar sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Escobar throws a jab when Beijer was well out of range.
A clash of legs there as Beijer blocks the low kick.

Beijer feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Beijer has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Beijer wants to get back to his feet but Escobar is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Escobar lands a nice leg kick that just misses Beijer's sensitive parts.
Beijer moves forwards but Escobar connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Escobar stuffs the takedown attempt from Beijer. Beijer gets slowly back to his feet.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Beijer accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Beijer postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Beijer misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
A nice side step and Escobar releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Beijer checks a leg kick.
Beijer shoots in looking for a takedown but Escobar manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Beijer's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

and Escobar makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Hans Beijer's cut is getting worse.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Escobar. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

That was a close second round but I would say that Hans Beijer will probably get the nod.

Beijer's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Escobar connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Beijer scrambles back to his feet.


Jeez, Hans Beijer's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

Beijer closes the distance and clinches up with Escobar, looking for a takedown. Beijer pushes Escobar against the cage but Escobar circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Escobar is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Beijer tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Escobar defends well and Beijer ends up having to push Escobar into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Hans Beijer's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Pablo Escobar!
After the fight, Pablo Escobar was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
