Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Frank Patterson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Butch Jenkins!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, William Gold and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Patterson throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Jenkins keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
A combination from Patterson does no damage.
Jenkins is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Patterson fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Jenkins has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Patterson doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Jenkins counters with a nice double leg into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Patterson pulls Jenkins in close to prevent any damage.
Jenkins is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jenkins won't allow Patterson to get back to his feet.

Jenkins looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Patterson throwing shots but Jenkins is blocking nicely.
Patterson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jenkins keeps working.

Patterson is really struggling to control Jenkins but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Patterson is thwarting Jenkins's attempts to control the position.
Jenkins is controlling Patterson's trapped leg to prevent Patterson from advancing to side control.

Jenkins wants to control but Patterson is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Patterson regains half guard there - taking advantage of Jenkins's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Jenkins chips away with some ground and pound.
Jenkins is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Jenkins scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Patterson wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Patterson goes for a double leg but Jenkins avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Jenkins continues to drive forward.
Patterson throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Jenkins is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Patterson gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Jenkins counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Patterson!
Patterson is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Jenkins has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Jenkins swings around for an armbar but Patterson sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Jenkins's guard.
Butch Jenkins has got the better of the ground game so far.

Jenkins really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Patterson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Jenkins throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Patterson escapes and throws Jenkins's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jenkins is trying to control Patterson's posture but Patterson avoids it.
Jenkins is looking for a sweep.
Patterson moves into full mount!

Butch Jenkins showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Patterson is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Jenkins is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Patterson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Patterson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jenkins is just riding it out for now. Patterson eventually gives up the hold.
