Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kurtis Griffith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chris Pow!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Daniel Franklin and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pow is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Griffith's half guard.
Griffith tries to get to full guard but Pow has control of the leg.
Pow passes to full mount!

Pow with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Griffith regains half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pow wants to pass to mount but Griffith is defending the position.
Griffith trying to control from the bottom.
Griffith is looking for a sweep. Pow is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Pow tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Pow is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Griffith wants to improve his position but Pow is controlling well.
Griffith throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Pow controlling the pace.
Griffith looks like he's trying to stand up.

Griffith really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Griffith is trying to stand.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Pow will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Griffith is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Pow.

Pow throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Griffith tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Pow is in Griffith's guard.
Griffith wants to get back to his feet but Pow is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Griffith can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Pow controls the pace.

Griffith is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Pow stops Griffith from standing up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Griffith striking off his back but it's not causing Pow any problems.
Pow throws a big right hand that misses.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Pow got a little sloppy there for a moment and Griffith has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Pow has managed to get both his arms back between Griffith's legs - danger averted.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Pow scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Pow wants to free his trapped foot but Griffith is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Pow wants to lay and pray for a moment but Griffith keeps working.
Pow missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Pow tries to pass to full mount but Griffith defends it.

Griffith is defending against the submission attempts here by Pow.
Pow wants to take a breather but Griffith is having none of it.
Griffith is looking to control Pow's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Griffith avoid being mounted?
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Pow looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Pow is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Griffith sees it coming and defends easily.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chris Pow dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



The fight moves into the clinch position.

Pow ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Pow no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Pow bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Griffith's guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Pow accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Griffith has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Pow can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Pow wants to lay and pray for a moment but Griffith keeps working.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Griffith is refusing to be controlled, as Pow sits in half guard.

Griffith takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Pow shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Griffith is trying to defend but Pow finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Pow wants to lay and pray for a moment but Griffith keeps working.

Griffith is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Pow pulls his head out easily.

Griffith is trying to control but can't.

Pow thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Pow looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Pow is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Pow closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Pow lands in his opponent's guard.
Pow trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Griffith throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Griffith can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Pow controls the pace.

Pow utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Chris Pow showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Griffith tries to clinch but Pow moves out of range.

Pow shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Griffith thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Pow controls from within his opponent's guard.
Griffith keeping moving, preventing Pow from controlling successfully.
Griffith scores with a nice shot.

Pow sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Griffith's guard.

Pow looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The fighters are battling for position here. Griffith manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Pow wants to control from the top but Griffith keeps moving.
Pow postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Pow stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Griffith swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Griffith not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Pow shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Pow showed some decent athleticism there.
Chris Pow has got the better of the ground game so far.
Pow wants to control but Griffith is keeping him busy.
Griffith regains full guard. Nicely done.
Pow wants to control from the top but Griffith keeps moving.
Pow won't allow Griffith to get back to his feet.
Griffith looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
