PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Derrick Deadwood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tiago Motta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tiago Motta told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Derrick Deadwood!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tiago Motta!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Steven Brown and Donald Grub.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Deadwood lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

It looks like Tiago Motta has been cut.
Deadwood misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Motta takes a jab right on the kisser.
Deadwood lands a really nice looking cross but Motta seems unphased.
Deadwood cracks Motta with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Deadwood throws a sloppy head kick and Motta moves out of range easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Motta takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Some wild striking there from Deadwood.
It seemed like Motta was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Deadwood misses with a jab, cross combination.
Motta is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Deadwood cracks Motta with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Motta tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Deadwood pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Motta is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Derrick Deadwood!
A relieved looking Derrick Deadwood thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
