PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mitka Boycheck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and El Loco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Boycheck might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Парус. El Loco will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Boycheck moves into the clinch.

Loco escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Loco looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

It looks like Mitka Boycheck has been cut.

Boycheck has been working on his balance at St Petersburg MMA Gym, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Loco.

And an attempted straight right on the counter from Loco! But no joy.

Boycheck jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Boycheck shoots in and drives through. Loco sprawls well.

The crowd cheers as Loco lands an impressive looking overhand right. Boycheck doesn't seem phased though.

Boycheck shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Loco pinned against the cage. Loco gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Boycheck shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Loco pinned against the cage. Loco gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Loco feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Boycheck sprawling to the canvas! Boycheck rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Loco finish him?!

Loco is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Boycheck had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Boycheck throws a looping overhand right but Loco ducks down to avoid it.

Loco sends Boycheck crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Loco is motioning to the referee to let Boycheck up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Loco enables Boycheck to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Loco manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Boycheck accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Loco has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Loco wants to stand up but Boycheck is controlling him.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Loco breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Loco lands with a hook. Boycheck tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Loco lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Horrible takedown attempt by Boycheck or perhaps it was just good defense by Loco, which made it look bad.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Loco is on top in guard.

Boycheck working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Loco doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Loco manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Loco wants to get up but he can't break Boycheck's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Boycheck controls Loco momentarily but Loco frees himself.

Boycheck tries to move into range but Loco moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
