Van Beethoven comes into the arena with Beethoven-Symphony 7 blaring out of the sound system. Serlal has chosen Mortal Kombat as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Zbermat Serlal!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Tiny Johnson and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Serlal swings for the body but Van Beethoven moves out of range.

Serlal shoots in and gets a takedown into Van Beethoven 's guard.
Serlal wants to pass the guard but Van Beethoven is keeping the position.
Van Beethoven tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Serlal works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Van Beethoven won't allow Serlal to pass to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Serlal thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Van Beethoven is trying to maintain the position but Serlal is very close to passing his half guard.
Van Beethoven is looking for a sweep. Serlal is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Van Beethoven keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Serlal works his way into full mount!
Serlal lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Van Beethoven bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Van Beethoven has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Serlal wants to sweep but no luck.
Serlal has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Van Beethoven has passed into side control.

Van Beethoven trying to control the position from guard on top but Serlal is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Van Beethoven is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Serlal is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Serlal is on top in guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Serlal accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Serlal passes Van Beethoven 's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Van Beethoven is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Van Beethoven is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Serlal scores with a couple of nice shots.
Van Beethoven is looking to improve his position.
Van Beethoven is doing well to control the position and prevent Serlal from advancing to side control.
Van Beethoven is looking for a sweep. Serlal is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Van Beethoven is looking to control Serlal's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Van Beethoven avoid being mounted?
Serlal seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Serlal passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Van Beethoven !

BOOM! Serlal connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Van Beethoven is trying to escape the mount.
Van Beethoven is bucking up trying to escape but Serlal cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Serlal loads up with a big shot that hurts Van Beethoven ! He's pulled Serlal in close but Serlal has postured up and lands more strikes. Can Van Beethoven survive? More strikes from Serlal and Van Beethoven is out! The ref jumps in to save him! Brutal ground and pound!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Zbermat Serlal!
An out of breath Zbermat Serlal thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
