Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Diego Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Danny Barns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Barns has chosen Mickey Avalon - I Get Even as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
11 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Diego Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
14 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Danny Barns!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Shigeki Sano and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz misses with a combination
and Barns counters with a single leg into guard. Diaz didn't expect that.
Barns throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Barns drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Barns jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Diaz is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Barns defends well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Diaz manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Diaz fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Barns tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Diaz throws a head kick that misses
and Barns counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Barns.
Barns chips away with some ground and pound.

Diaz avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Barns with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Barns must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Barns is working Diaz over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Diaz is rocked!
Diaz wants to sweep here but Barns controlling him for the moment.

Barns postures up in Diaz's guard and throws a big left but Diaz blocks it.
Barns content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Diaz has momentary wrist control but Barns slips an elbow through the middle.
Oh Diaz is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Barns wants to pass the guard but Diaz is keeping the position.
Barns keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Diaz's head.
Barns gets to his feet and stands over Diaz, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Diaz felt that one! Barns unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Diaz from any more punishment!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Danny Barns!

Diego Diaz spoke after the fight, saying 'Eu amo este esporte e eu nunca vou parar até que eu estou morto, então eu estarei de volta novamente. (I love this sport & I will never stop until I'm dead so I will be back again)'.
