Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Newton Lucas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Santiago Sanchez!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Daniel Bishop and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sanchez feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Sanchez is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Lucas is controlling Sanchez's posture.
Sanchez wants to control from the top but Lucas keeps moving.
Lucas is trying to control the position but Sanchez postures up.
Sanchez trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sanchez throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Lucas misses with a takedown attempt - Sanchez sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Lucas shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Lucas tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Sanchez is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Lucas wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Sanchez uses the opportunity to regain full guard.

Lucas won't allow Sanchez to sweep him here.

Lucas will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Lucas is looking to stand up but Sanchez won't let him.

Sanchez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lucas gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Sanchez has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Lucas regains guard immediately.

Lucas is looking for a sweep. Sanchez is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Sanchez has managed to clinch.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Sanchez moves into the clinch.

Sanchez has hold of one of Lucas's legs. Lucas is fighting the takedown attempt but Sanchez gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Sanchez has eaten all the pies!

Sanchez wants to take Lucas's back but he can't do it this time.

Sanchez has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Lucas avoids a series of strikes thrown by Sanchez.
Lucas is desperately trying to improve his position but Sanchez has a good base and remains in mount.

Lucas is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Lucas wants to take a breather but Sanchez is having none of it.
Sanchez is trying to maintain the position but Lucas is very close to passing his half guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

I would just about give that final round to Santiago Sanchez.
Well Sanchez has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
