The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Permitis blocks the body kick.
Vieira stuffs the takedown.
Permitis avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Permitis shoots for a double leg takedown but Vieira sprawls well. He's pushed Permitis's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Permitis looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Vieira!

Permitis tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Permitis has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Permitis tries to move to mount but Vieira blocks the move with his legs.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Permitis swings around for an armbar but Vieira sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Permitis's guard.

Vieira has gone for a leg lock! Permitis slips out almost immediately though and dives into Vieira's guard.

Permitis slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Permitis accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Permitis seems to be looking for submissions.
Vieira is looking to improve his position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Permitis fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Permitis has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.

That kick from Vieira tenderised Permitis's leg. Permitis is trying to keep his angry face on.

Vieira tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Vieira throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Leo Vieira is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Vieira lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Vieira.

It looks like Francois Permitis has been cut.
Permitis shoots in for a double leg but Vieira sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Permitis wants to control from the top but Vieira keeps moving.

Permitis with a flurry of punches that miss.

Vieira is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Permitis looking to sit in guard and control but Vieira gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Vieira postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Vieira wants to control from the top but Permitis keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Vieira drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Permitis manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Vieira has Permitis in his guard.

Permitis throws an elbow that misses. Vieira uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Permitis's guard. Nice move by Vieira!

Vieira got a little sloppy there for a moment and Permitis has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Vieira has managed to get both his arms back between Permitis's legs - danger averted.

Permitis has his foot on Vieira's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Vieira works his way back into a safe position though.

Permitis is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Vieira has his hands clasped together but Permitis extends and breaks Vieira's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Permitis.
