PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tevin Mangrove Jr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kalle Kivipelto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kalle Kivipelto told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

With a record of 12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kalle Kivipelto!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Daniel Blasius and Nard Betker.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kivipelto cracks a nice hook into Mangrove Jr's ribs.
Mangrove Jr takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Mangrove Jr lands a slapping body shot.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Mangrove Jr.
Kivipelto lands a nice shot to the body.
Mangrove Jr explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
A jab from Kivipelto misses.
Kivipelto avoids the body shot from Mangrove Jr.
Mangrove Jr takes a swing at Kivipelto's ribcage but misses.
Kivipelto drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Mangrove Jr defends it well.
Kivipelto misses with a left hand
and Mangrove Jr counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Mangrove Jr thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Kivipelto if he has to take too many more of those.
Kivipelto looks winded!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Mangrove Jr scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Kivipelto takes one to the side of the head.
Kivipelto takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Mangrove Jr throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Mangrove Jr has been working on his boxing with his coaches at The Factory in the buildup to the fight.

Mangrove Jr fakes the leg kick and cracks Kivipelto in the body.
Mangrove Jr thumps Kivipelto with a low kick.
Mangrove Jr throws out a powerful jab.
Mangrove Jr throws the kick towards the body but Kivipelto avoids it.
Kivipelto has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Mangrove Jr.
Mangrove Jr cracks Kivipelto with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Kivipelto steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Mangrove Jr. That one must have hurt.
Kivipelto walks forward, straight into a front kick from Mangrove Jr.
Kivipelto takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
A decent looking cross lands there for Mangrove Jr.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Mangrove Jr feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Kivipelto sprawling to the canvas! Kivipelto rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Mangrove Jr finish him?!
Kivipelto has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Mangrove Jr.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Kivipelto crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Mangrove Jr - the referee stops the clock and Kivipelto gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Mangrove Jr. Kivipelto manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Mangrove Jr sends Kivipelto crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Mangrove Jr is motioning to the referee to let Kivipelto up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

Mangrove Jr steps in with a hook that catches Kivipelto right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Mangrove Jr follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Kivipelto looks absolutely devastated.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:14 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tevin Mangrove Jr!
Tevin Mangrove Jr tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
